American Lounges Get Makeover

Beginning with its facilities in Phoenix and Sao Paulo, American has begun renovating its network of more than 50 Admirals Club lounges at airports worldwide.

According to American: “In the future, when our customers see an Admirals Club sign anywhere in the world, they’ll know they’ll find a reliable, modern space where they can charge their devices, grab a bite to eat, get caught up on work or unplug from the world around them. Our goal is to create spaces that are more in line with how people live and spend their time today.”

In addition to the sleek wood-and-steel surfaces and the predictable proliferation of electrical outlets and USB ports, the new lounges will feature communal tables and custom-designed chairs, as well as upgraded food and refreshments.

Following the Phoenix and Sao Paulo renovations, lounges in Miami, New York, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Los Angeles will get makeovers by the end of this year. The project will take “several years” to complete.

The promise of newly refreshed lounges comes with a warning: While the renovations are in progress, access to some lounges may be limited. The price of progress.
