With so many hotels to choose from, it's not always easy to find a good deal. Here are a few tips for getting a great price on a hotel.
Step 1: Check for sales from your favorite hotel chains. Seasonal, last-minute, and membership promotions (e.g., AAA) can often save you money.
Step 2: Compare total prices. Some hotel chains and resorts list all taxes and fees up front. Others do not. Find out about hidden costs and fees before you book.
Step 3: Look for a specialty discount. There are frequently sales targeted toward students, seniors, veterans, and other specific groups.
Step 4: Earn and redeem loyalty points. If you join a hotel loyalty program, you can earn points for each stay and use those points for free nights and other hotel benefits.
Step 5: Beware of extra charges. Many hotels will add extra charges to your bill for making local and long-distance telephone calls, accessing the Internet, ordering room service, using the mini-bar, or having additional guests or pets.
