Scotland: The World’s Only Malt Whisky Trail

Do the words “single malt,” “Glenlivet,” and “free whisky” make you salivate? If yes, you should definitely visit Scotland’s Malt Whisky Trail, the only one in the world. Here, you can do a self-guided tour of Speyside’s famous distilleries, like Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, and Cardhu (the only malt whisky distillery pioneered by a woman). Almost all of the distilleries offer free tours and free tastings, and you can even try making your own min-cask at Speyside Cooperage.

You’ll need a car to traverse this trail, so be sure to bring a designated driver along for the ride. Whisky aside, the trail winds through the Scottish countryside, offering scenic views to distract those who aren’t imbibing.

If you really want to party, come in September during the whisky festivals, where the trail will be full of special events and fun.
