Tips on Taiwan Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Taiwan Warnings and Dangers

Visiting Taiwan is educational and enriching experience. However, as with any major destination, there are some warnings and dangers to be aware of. Here’s what you need to know before you visit Taiwan.

Homeless in Taipei

The area around Taipei Main Station is filled with many homeless and often elderly people. It’s considered a relatively safe area, and violence is rare, but be aware that you may be asked for money or food by the homeless. You will also see people sleeping on homemade beds constructed from cardboard boxes and plastic sheeting. Many are seen selling toys and other small objects.

Earthquakes and Rockslides

Hualien is known to experience earthquakes and rockslides, which can be quite frightening. At the first sign of an earthquake, you should evacuate the building you’re in if possible. These incidents are rare, but worth being prepared for.

Typhoons

Along the east coast especially, be aware of the dangers posed by typhoons and have an emergency plan in place.
