Waterfront

One of the best spots to go for the evening is the waterfront. You’ll have an exceptional view of the Persian Gulf and there are a number of different restaurant options. You can take in the sunset and find a delicious dining option as well.

Alcohol is Not Allowed

One thing you will quickly discover is you are not allowed to consume alcohol in Kuwait: Alcohol consumption is forbidden. That’s not to say it doesn’t exist in private places: Just know that if you do consume alcohol and are caught, you can face a steep penalty for it.

Private Parties

Alcoholic drinks are not available in the public, but they might be present at private parties. The country seems to be slowly opening up to the idea of alcohol, but the ban is aimed at staying with tradition. If you are invited to an underground party know that there is almost always a hefty cover price (usually $50 or more). For those able to get their hands on alcohol, it is expensive.

You Won’t Find Bars or Clubs

With the lack of alcohol, you won’t find any traditional bars or clubs: If they’re usually your idea of fun on a Friday night, you might be rather disappointed. However, there are plenty of local tea joints that are popular, and you can also find hookah bars as well. You may simply find that if you are not a fan of alcohol, this is an opportunity to walk the streets and enjoy the evening.

See a Movie

Cinemas are picking up in popularity in Kuwait. There are some locally produced movies, but most are American. Note that some movies from the States either won’t be shown or are heavily edited if there are sexual situations or the consumption of alcohol is displayed in the movie.
