Tagaytay Travel Guide
Tagaytay is much like a small town rather than a city. However, it has no shortage of places to stay or things to do.
Where to Stay
There are more than two dozen hotels located in Tagaytay. Some of the highest-rated hotels are the Days Hotel, One Tagaytay Place Hotel Suites, Nurture Spa, The Lake Hotel Tagaytay, Country Suites Hotel and Taal Vista Hotel. If you want a resort-like kind of experience, there’s the Tagaytay Highlands Complex with beautiful scenery and tons of amenities.
Things to Do
Whether you’re looking to enjoy nature, see the sights or look for adventure at a theme park, you’ll find no shortage of things to do while in Tagaytay.
- People’s Park – Once an incomplete mansion by Ferdinand Marcos, it was once called Palace in the Sky. The government decided to repurpose this land and turn it into a public park.
- Taal Lake and Taal Island – A visit to Tagaytay is not complete without seeing this area.
- The Sky Ranch – If it’s an amusement park you’re seeking, this is the place. Don’t forget to check out the famous Ferris wheel, the “Sky Eye”.
Other highlights include Sonya’s Garden, Picnic Grove, horseback riding and, of course, the Taal Volcano.
Shopping
You’ll find plenty of places to shop in Tagaytay. Merchants and stores to visit for souvenirs, restaurants, specialty foods or other items include:
- Shops along Tagaytal-Santa Rosa Road
- Shops inside Picnic Grove
- Mahogany Public Market
- Roadside fruit stands
If it’s basic necessities you’re looking for, go to Robinson’s Mall. It’s actually called Summit Ridge Promenade, but there is a Robinson’s Supermarket on the ground floor.
Transportation
Tagaytay is about a one to two hour drive from the City of Manila. Car is the most convenient method of transportation to getting around. There are no taxis in Tagaytay and the mode of transport here is via public buses, jeepneys, private cars, vans or tour buses.
