Boat Trips

Bremerton sits on the Puget Sound and is a great place to go for a boat ride. Charter boats will take you out to look for whales, take pictures of eagles, and in the warmer months, to fish for salmon. Boat rides can be pricey, depending upon the activities planned. However, most are much more affordable than those in nearby Seattle.

Museums

Bremerton is home to the U.S.S. Turney Joy Museum and the Puget Sound Naval Museum. Both are popular tourist stops, but the U.S.S. Turner Joy is unique in that it allows visitors to walk through a destroyer that took part in the Vietnam War.

Illahee State Park

North of Bremerton, at Illahee State Park, you can hike, fish, and hunt for shell fish. In the summer, the park is visited by tourists from across the state. They come to relax on the beach, eat a picnic lunch, and take in the natural beauty that surrounds Bremerton. The picnic shelters must be reserved in advance, so call ahead if you and your family plan on visiting the park during your stay. Fishermen must also obtain a license before they cast their lines. These can be purchased online and in town.
