Whether you’re headed to Doha to explore Souq Waqif or the futuristic city center, you’ll need to know the most reliable forms of transportation available.

Doha Airport

When flying to Doha, look for flights through Qatar Air. Prices are a bit lower than with Emirates, but offer about the same comfort regarding seats and food. Get a seat on the right side of the plane so you have a great view of Doha when you arrive. If your flight gets in late at night you won’t need to worry about going hungry because all of the shops and restaurants stay open. Once you get your bags you can jump in a taxi and it will take just a few minutes to get to the city.

Buses

Public transportation in Doha is better developed than in other Gulf countries, but still not as impressive as Dubai’s or other Western countries. Before you plan on relying on the bus pick up a marhaba book which will show you illustrations of the city’s routes. You can’t purchase a bus ticket once you board so make sure to get a prepaid card in advance. All in all, the bus is a good option if you aren’t in a hurry to get anywhere.

Taxi

Taxis are a very popular way to get around Doha. They can be difficult to spot but they are quite cheap which makes them a good option. Your best bet is to call a Karwa taxi ahead of time (give 30-60 minutes). If you’re willing to splurge have your hotel set you up with a limo service which will be the fastest and most reliable form of transportation.

When you’re planning your transportation throughout Doha remember that traffic can get very congested so allow yourself extra time.
