When you are trying to get to and from San Juan and then around the island once you arrive, there are a couple of different methods you can take. By land, sea or air, you’ll be able to find a way to get around that you like the most.

Horse and Buggy

San Juan has a rather robust Horse and Buggy service for those who want to get around the place in style. This isn’t because the area is particularly behind the times but because the people who drive them know you likely aren’t going to be seeing things quite like this anywhere else.

Car Rental

There are a number of car rentals places in the area that will allow you to get around the island if you want to be doing the driving. Traffic on the island can be a bit out of control during the peak tourism season, but you might like the idea of being able to take or avoid specific streets during the busiest time of the year.

Buses

The buses that run on the island are well used both by the people who live and work in the area but also those who are visiting and want to see the sites quick and easily. Sometimes this service can be running a bit behind and you’ll find yourself waiting a bit but for the most part, they run on time and are plenty clean and orderly for your needs.

By sea

There are always boat rides you can take to check out the water or go fishing or skiing. You can also arrive at the island using a cruise ship if you really want to come in style.
