Sweden regularly ranks among the world’s happiest countries, and its new partnership with Airbnb hints at a key reason why: it’s beautiful, and that natural beauty is accessible to all.
Really, to all, especially now that Sweden has put the whole country up on Airbnb, after a fashion. To draw attention to the country’s “freedom to roam” ethos or allemansratten, Sweden has turned itself into one giant Airbnb listing.
The country’s constitutional right to the freedom to roam allows everyone who lives or visits the right to access, walk, cycle, or camp on any land except private gardens or lands under cultivation. With that access comes the responsibility to respect the land, though, summed up in the general rule of “do not disturb, do not destroy.”
That’s quite a listing, and it’s made even more appealing by the above video, which highlights some of Sweden’s most impressive landscapes.
It’s safe to assume these hosts will be getting rave reviews.
