The Kimberly is full of crystal creeks and rivers weaving their way between striking orange cliffs. The distinctive colouring of the Kimberley cliffs is the result of accumulated sediment over millions of years. There is no lack of beaches and pristine swimming holes in this incredible Australian tourist destination.
There’s also no shortage of activities in the Kimberley region, from relaxing cruises drifting through gorges and wildlife tours, to seeing crocodiles in their natural habitat (from a safe distance!).
● For the thrill seekers, why not try sport fishing for giant barramundi or a 4WD desert trip through the northern outback.
● For the nature lovers, there are hundreds of species of native birds and wetland dwellers that will have you content to sit for hours watching.
● For those wanting a relaxing break, a cruise through the gorges of the Kimberley is the ideal location to wind down and take a break from the day to day.2. Relax in the Whitsundays
Australia has its fair share of beautiful beaches, and the shores of the Whitsundays are some of the best. An undisputed paradise, the Whitsundays are home to immaculate white beaches and clear oceans.
● For those looking to unwind, a lazy day on the beach is just what the doctor ordered. Just kick back and and let the weight of the world melt off you.
● For those who are feeling romantic, the Whitsundays is a pristine spot to pop the question to your beau. If you’re already hitched, why not escape to this eden for your honeymoon or a romantic getaway.
● For those who like a bird’s eye view, take an aerial tour of the islands and take in the breathtaking view. After all, there’s nothing like a change of perspective to discover something beautiful.3. Go swimming in the Gold Coast’s hidden rock pools
While the Gold Coast has plenty of stunning beaches, there are also gorgeous swimming options if you head inland. The region is home to some of the most beautiful rainforests in the country, so what better way to explore them than with the promise of a refreshing dip?
● For the hiker, some of the Gold Coast’s rock pools lie in national parks and take a bit of a walk to reach. This makes your swim all the more rewarding in locations like the Elebana Falls.
● For those with limited time, some Gold Coast swimming holes, like the Currumbin Rock Pools, are only a 15 minute drive from the beach.
● For the loved up couples, the Love Heart Waterhole is about a 45 minute drive from the Gold Coast. The Killarney Glen Waterfall flows down into the heart shaped waterhole and the only way in is to leap from the top, or swim to it via the creek downstream.4. Go beyond Adelaide city
Adelaide is a great cosmopolitan city, offering plenty of entertainment, and impeccable food to complement the fruits of the neighbouring wine regions. But beyond the borders of the City of Churches, are many adventures that are waiting to be discovered. In fact, Lonely Planet ranked South Australia as number 5 in the Best in Travel 2017 – Top Regions.
● For the water lovers, there are huge stretches of wild coastlands in South Australia. Swim with dolphins in the shallows off the coast of Kangaroo Island if you have always dreamt of meeting these creatures up close and personal.
● For the adrenaline junkies, you can meet some of South Australia’s much maligned Great White sharks with some cage diving in the Neptune Islands.
● For the cross country drivers, you can really get off the road most travelled by driving the Oodnadatta Track. This stretch of road goes through Australia’s red centre, all the way up to Darwin. It was also the first route taken by explorers looking to cross the great Australian desert in the early 19th century. Pack the car well and head up north for some Mad Max vibes and to experience the harsh beauty of the Australian outback.5. Explore Sydney on foot
While the CBD Sydney may be a little crowded at times, but it also has hundreds of beaches and coastal walks to discover. Not to mention the heritage buildings and parks to peruse. Those who love hiking can find a lot to do without leaving the city – which is great for the time-poor traveller.
● For those who love a good view, walking from Circular Quay to the Botanic Gardens lets you soak up the iconic post card sight of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge before seeing some amazing examples of Australian flora in the gardens.
● For the beach bums, the 6km Coogee to Bondi walk is one of Sydney’s best. Give yourself a few hours to stop and appreciate each unique beach you pass by.
● For the history buffs, explore the exquisite Middle Head. With a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean, the area has a colourful military past.
