Not everything was meant to be tamed. Not everything was meant to be domesticated. Not everything was meant to have all the rough ridden off it. Whether it’s the world-class skiing, the scenic snowmobile trails, or more wildlife than you can handle, Wyoming is a place that encourages you to “Roam Free.”

It Snows Here. A Lot. Like, a Lot a Lot.
The snow in Wyoming isn't your average snow. It's fluffy, light, and there's a ton of it. The average snowfall in Jackson Hole, for example, is 439 inches. They say Eskimos have a hundred words for "snow," but we bet they'd make it two hundred if they ever ventured down to Wyoming in the winter.

There's Wildlife Everywhere You Turn
Wyoming is the least populated state in the country, which leaves a whole lot more room for the animals. We have all of the animals from your childhood storybooks: moose, buffalo, elk, antelope, and more. If wildlife viewing is your passion, check out the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, which is home to the largest elk herd in the world—about 7,500 of them. But the Refuge isn't the only place to view wildlife: Yellowstone is also full of a variety of critters. Try taking a Yellowstone snowcoach for wildlife viewing in the winter.

Open Space for Snowmobiling
Only .0002% of Wyoming is paved, which leaves snowmobilers plenty of room to play. Wyoming is known in the snowmobile world for its forested trails and unfenced open spaces, ideal for taking exhilarating adventures. There's the Snowy Range Mountains, where you can rent snowmobiles and take a tour, or you can experience one of the scenic continental divide trails.

It's Where Kids Can Be Kids
While our state may be known as the place where the pros get their kicks, it's also home to plenty of runs for beginners and intermediates. Resorts such as Snow King are great for those with less experience because there are more blues and greens than blacks. And as with all Wyoming resorts, there are shorter lift lines, which means you get more runs in a day.

It's the Authentic Old West
People come to Wyoming for the skiing and snowboarding, but they stay for the unique shops, nightlife, and Western vibe. Wyoming has a distinctly different culture and feeling than any other state in the country. The state played a major role in the expansion out West, and the feeling of the Old West hasn't left. Cowboy hats, plaid shirts, and jeans are the norm, and its respectful, welcoming culture is nothing short of infectious.

Getting Here Is Easy
It used to be that you'd have to drive to Wyoming if you wanted to get here—or before that, hitch your wagon to a couple of oxen and ford a couple rivers. But those days are over. There are currently 11 nonstop flights into Jackson Hole Airport from major cities across the U.S. The only hitch you might experience is going through security. Jackson Hole Airport currently offers direct service to/from Denver, Salt Lake City, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Minneapolis, Chicago, Newark, Atlanta, San Francisco, Houston, and Los Angeles.
