Ko Samui Things To Do
The island of Ko Samui is one place where you can combine relaxation with lots of opportunities to see the incredible beauty of Thailand and even learn to cook Thai dishes. A trip here can be a memorable chance to experience authentic regional culture.
Take Cooking Lessons
Thai food is renowned all over the world. Many hotels here offer Thai cooking lessons, making it easy to spend a fun day acquiring skills you can use when you get home. Consider taking a few lessons at the Samui Institute of Thai Culinary Arts. Here you’ll learn how to make a wonderful meal with dishes like King Prawns stuffed with Minced Pork that use local ingredients. You can master the classic Thai dish Shrimp Sour Fish Soup with Ginger and enjoy Red Curry with Fried Tofu and Mixed Vegetables.
The Regional Beaches
Ko Samui has multiple beaches for the traveler to explore. Bophut Beach has a beach and lots of restaurants, boutiques and cafes. This is a good place to take a family. Chewang Beach is the largest beach in the area. There’s lot of posh resorts here directly on the beach. This is the center of the town and where you’ll find the area’s greatest concentration of stores. While it can be a little crowded, the sand is white and soft and the water is very warm all year long. It’s also shallow; you can easily wade. For a quieter haven, many people recommend Lamai Beach. Be aware that it can get very deep here only a few feet away from the shore. Most of the beaches here have offshore corals that you can see directly. It’s a good idea to bring beach shoes with you so you don’t get your feet cut when walking. If you want to further explore this region, you’ll find jet skis for rent from many places. You can also go snorkeling to see marine life.
An Offshore Excursion
The natural beauty of Ko Samui is everywhere you go here. Visit the Angthong National Marine Park. Located off the mainland shores, the park is a secluded paradise that is not as crowded as the rest of the island. A boat will bring you here for several hours to explore the island. Have a buffet picnic along the island shores. To get a view of the entire region, Climb to the Ko Wua Talab Viewpoint. Many tour boats will also provide kayaks so you can explore the beautiful waters and see the caves here.
