Alabang Things To Do
Once a small farming community, today Alabang is the center of a huge area that draws people from miles around. People come to enjoy movies at the local movie theater, shop at the huge mall, visit one of the many local churches or just get away into a cool, air-conditioned space and get a nice meal. Spending time here can be a great way to get to know the culture of the Philippines and see an up-and-coming region in person.
The Alabang Town Center
At the heart of the town lies a large mall. The Festival Mall is a huge mall with many shops featuring a wide range of products. Several large stores anchor the mall and offer everything from hardware for the home to the latest in computer games. People can also find many cafes to grab a good cup of coffee and speak with local residents. The interior of the mall also features spaces where shoppers can rest, including a renovated children’s area that is a perfect place for the little ones to play on a rainy day. There are dozens of specialty boutiques that offer items unique to the Philippines and this part of the world, including pearls and coffee. Parking is free.
Catch a Movie
The Festival Mall has ten cinemas so you’ll always have lots to pick from. Prices for movies are cheaper than what you’ll find in much of the rest of the world. You can watch the latest movie in comfortable seating; the theaters also offer up-to-date sound systems so you can hear every word. Throw a coin in the indoor mall waterfall and garden after you leave for extra added good luck.
Visit Area Churches
This area is home to several area churches that are highly popular with locals and visitors alike. The St. Jerome Emiliani Church has six masses every day. The elaborate exterior is lovely, as is the calming interior. If you like peaceful meditation, there’s a prayer room at the Madrigal Center. The prayer room makes an ideal way to retreat from the bustling outside world and let your mind and body fully relax. Another popular church here is the lovely St. James The Great. This ornate church is filled with many beautiful works of art. It makes a popular location for weddings, and is a favorite of those who are passing by and want to see one of the nicest churches in the entire country.
