Loch Ness

Let’s start with this gem. Almost everyone has heard the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, and each year tourists from all over the world come to the area to view the famous Loch that is home to the mythical creature. Books and movies have been made, so make sure you see it for yourself.

Culloden Battlefield And Museum

This is an amazing way to spend the day if you are interested in the history, weaponry and battles of the area. In addition to touring the battlefields (complete with audio tour) you can get an in-depth, interactive experience with the “Immersion Room.” You can also visit the museum and explore weapons — even try on a shield and sword while you’re there.

Clava Cairns

Don’t miss the “Standing Stones” that mark the graves of the fallen. It’s a mysterious, historical and fascinating sight to see.

Inverness Castle

While not quite the crumbling Medieval Castle you would expect, it is nonetheless impressive and photo-worthy. You can’t tour the inside of the castle, but you can get some great shots of the exterior.

Urquhart Castle

Now this is a crumbling Medieval castle! Pronounced “Urkurt” this castle ruin is on the banks of Loch Ness and is absolutely worth a visit, although there may be crowds, as its a popular attraction.

Kiltmaker Visitor Center

You can’t visit Scotland without a visit to the Kiltmaker. The Kilt is one of those recognizable articles of clothing that makes people immediately think “Scotland” and nothing else. Roam The Highlands

Spend time bird watching, exploring and enjoying the landscape. Visit the Glens and watch for Red Deer.

Cawdor Castle

This castle dates from the 15th century and is surrounded by picturesque gardens. It’s well worth the trip and located east of Inverness.
