Transportation in Copenhagen: Airport – Transportation to Copenhagen Center
There are plenty of options when figuring out how to get around Copenhagen, but most travelers recommend taking the train. Copenhagen’s efficient and well-maintained public transportation system makes it easy and cheap to get around without a car even if you don’t speak a word of the language. Whichever mode of transportation you take, however, you are sure to enjoy simply getting from point A to point B in this charming city.
Train
The easiest way to get from Kastrup airport to the city center is by train. It takes less than 15 minutes and the trains run roughly every 10 minutes into Central Station. From Central Station you can get trains all over the country and even to other parts of Europe. The trains are clean, safe, and modern with comfortable room for baggage, and ticket prices are more than reasonable. The automatic ticket machines take most credit/debit cards and have English language buttons. There are also manned windows where you can get train and local public transport tickets.
Metro
Copenhagen Metro is a joy to use. Some visitors find that it becomes one their favorite things about the city. The stations are sleek, clean, and user-friendly. As you enter, you can use coins or a credit card to buy your ticket from automatic machines with little to no wait time.
There are only two metro lines at present, and all trains from the airport go in the same direction. This makes for very stress-free travel and you never have to wait for more then a minute or two for your train. If you’re traveling at off-peak times, you’ll see bicycles on board, which all adds to the very Danish vibe.
Bus
There are also buses that will take you into Copenhagen center. The 250S bus runs from the airport to the center of town and various stops beyond. Though it takes longer than the Metro or train, it can be handy if your destination is en-route.
Taxi and Private Transfer
For visitors who have appointments to keep or are at the end of a long uncomfortable trip, the idea of simply getting into a car and being whisked away to your final destination without having to so much as look at a map can sound very appealing, no matter how convenient the public transportation may be.
If you need to make a very quick connection from the airport, you can save time and hassle by having a driver pick you up inside the terminal as you walk out of baggage claim. They will usually have a sign with your name and will handle your bags and every transportation need you have so that you can focus on other things. The Limos4 Copenhagen is a very popular company providing these services.
