As beautiful as EL Nido might be, always err on the side of caution and beware of the following warnings.

ATM and Money Matters

ATMs can be hard to find on El Nido. Look for them at gas stations or at the Art Café, but be aware that the ATMs often do not work. Tourists are generally at the mercy of merchants when it comes to services or products, so pay close attention to the exchange rates. If the amount seems too high, chances are it is.

Don’t Drink the Water

Drink bottled water in El Nido. Water from the tap is not potable in El Nido because the town does not have a water system. You can, however, try refilling water bottles from the purified water outlets.

Roads and Sidewalks

There are no sidewalks or pavements so be careful while walking around. Try leave your motorbike at the hotel if the town center is in walking distance.  There are not really any parking areas for vehicles in the center of town.

Glass on the Beach

Watch out for sharp glass on the town beach. Some travelers report finding glass from broken bottles, not soft seagrass, nearly ever time they went to the beach. It’s easy to cut your feet if you are not careful. It’s advisable to wear shoes or sandals.
