Trains
Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco and is among the largest and most important cities in the entire continent of Africa. Due to its size and importance, Casablanca has a well-developed transportation system that includes a robust train network.
The Train Stations
Getting to Casablanca by train is very comfortable. Trains are mostly on time, affordable, and quite nice. Both first and second class tickets are offered, but the second class accommodations are more than adequate and quite roomy.
There are actually between seven and eight stations in Casablanca, but you only really need to know three of them. The Mohamed V station can take the train to and from the airport. Be aware that a second-class ticket could mean standing if you do not get on early enough. A first-class ticket will cost you a little more, but you’ll at least be guaranteed a seat. The train station is located under the Airport and will connect you not only to Casablanca, but also directly to Mohamadya, Rabat, Sala and Konitra. One of the other train station is Casa Port train station, which can connect you from Casablanca to Mohamediya, Rabat, Konitra, and Jadeda. From this station, you will be able to go to the Airport, but you’ll have to change trains at Ain Esseba train station.
Casa Voyager
Casa Voyager train station is the main train station you’ll need if you want to go Fes, Marrakesh, Tangier, or anywhere else in Morocco. It is the main long-distance train station in Casablanca and is actually a very simple station. The station contains a ticket office on one side and a small store on the other that sells newspapers, snacks, sodas, and juices. It is the first train station you should choose if you want to go back to the airport. On the other hand, if you are traveling to Casablanca from Marrakesh, there is a train every couple of hours or so. The journey takes a little more than three hours.
If you’re visiting the train station, be on the watch for pickpockets and shady individuals offering taxi rides. Although the area is generally safe, you’ll want to take sensible precautions to protect yourself while traveling.
