Winter
Snowfest is the annual Winter Carnival that takes place from the end of February through early March. Events include a Science Expo, the Snowfest Queen Coronation, opening night ceremonies with fireworks, pancake breakfasts, a Polar Bear Swim, an ice cream eating contest, and more.
The Heavenly Ski Resort straddles the border of California and Nevada, and has an amazing view of the lake and surrounding area. Ninety-one trails and 29 lifts challenge every level of skier from beginner all the way up to black diamond skiers.
Summer
Take a two-hour scenic cruise around Emerald Bay on the Ms. Dixie II. It travels all around Emerald Bay where you can view the Vikingsholm Castle up close.
Located along the south shore, Edgewood Golf Course has hosted the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship for the past 25 years.
Lake Tahoe has an abundance of scenic lakeside trails great for biking or hiking. Make sure to bring plenty of water.
Lake Tahoe has plenty of secluded little beaches to explore or enjoy a picnic, or rent a kayak, boat, or jet ski.
Anytime
Vikingsholm Castle sits on a hill overlooking Emerald Bay. Magnificent cedars and pines set off by granite cliffs make this one of the most scenic areas in the entire United States.
For amazing views of the lake and surrounding area, take this enjoyable ride up to the Heavenly Ski Resort via the Heavenly Gondola. Restaurants, shops, condos, two hotels, miniature golf, an ice skating rink, and of course the Heavenly Gondola make up Heavenly Village. Leave the car at your hotel, if possible.Check out the casinos to eat, drink, gamble, and enjoy world-class entertainment at one of the several casinos on the Nevada side of the lake.
