Cultural Sights

Singapore is a spectacular place to really soak up the sights and sounds of Asian culture. Because Singapore is such a modern country, you’ll find influences from a variety of other cultures as well. Be sure to visit Chinatown and Little India for the largest cultural impact. While in Chinatown, don’t miss the Sri Mariamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in all of Singapore. Regardless of whether you consider yourself religious or not, this temple will take your breath away.

Parks

No trip to Singapore would be complete without a visit to Merlion Park. Home to a half-lion, half-fish statue is one of the most recognizable sights in Singapore, so be sure to add this to your travel itinerary.

For an escape into nature, step into the National Orchid Garden. Its stunning flora will almost make you forget that you are in the middle of a bustling metropolis. The Jurong Bird Park is another one of Singapore’s top attractions and is the largest bird park in Asia.

Shopping

Orchard Road and Burgis Street both offer some of the best retail stores in Singapore. If you’re looking for high-fashion designer clothing, Orchard Road is the place to go. You’ll find clothes from the likes of Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, just to name a few. Dining and Drinking

Raffles Hotel is one of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks for the foodie set. It’s the birthplace of the famous cocktail, the Singapore Sling, so don’t leave without sampling at least one. The hotel itself is a bit pricey to stay in, but you can get a taste of the experience by spending the afternoon sampling the offerings at its bar and restaurant.

Theme Parks

If you really wanted to, you could spend your entire time in Singapore visiting its theme parks alone. Universal Studios has an outpost here, taking visitors behind the scenes of some of the biggest blockbuster films of recent decades. The range of rides in the park offers fun for the whole family.

If you prefer a slower-paced theme park, the Singapore Zoological Gardens may be more your speed. Get up close and personal with a variety of exotic animals from around the world.

Although Singapore is small in size, it packs in so much to do. You’ll need at least a week to really see everything that makes this country so unique, so plan plenty of sightseeing time into your itinerary.
