There are several excellent transportation options available in Putrajaya, Malaysia. It all just depends on what you’re looking to do and where you want to go.

Taxi

When looking for a taxi, you’ll want to avoid the main entrance of the train station, bus terminal, or airport. You’ll be quoted an outlandish price tag. If you haven’t been to the area before, you may not know you are overpaying. Instead, walk past the main gate and down a quarter mile or so. Here you’ll be able to wave down a cab and pay a fraction of the price for a cab.

NadiPutra Bus

This is a commuter bus service. It doesn’t have as many stops as the city bus, which is great when you want to travel to a particular location and not stop every minute or so. The buses are not as new as the inner city buses, but that doesn’t matter much if your stop is included. The buses stop at the popular shopping areas, the mosque, and a handful of other destinations. Make sure to check the schedule and set locations to see if this is the best way to go.

Intra-City “Green” Bus

These new buses are clean, comfortable and use a hybrid technology, so not as much pollutants are expelled into the air. These buses travel throughout the entire city with stops everywhere. Talk to your hotel about a bus stop schedule and map. If you want the least expensive travel option in the city, this is the way to go.

Boat Tours

The boat tours give you a different take on the city. You’ll be able to check out Putra Lake and see the city from a completely different point of view. The boat is large enough, so if you suffer from motion or seasickness, this won’t be a problem. The breeze also feels great during the hot and humid summer months.

KLIA Transit

The KLIA Transit is a rapid rail service that travels between the airport and several destinations outside of town. Instead of hiring a cab after you leave the airport, this is an inexpensive way to go. You can take it into the city and then wave down a cab for the trip to your hotel.
