Shop in Lisbon for Low Prices

Unlike much of the rest of Europe, prices for all kinds of goods, from clothing to tourist items, tend to be inexpensive. Lisbon is a fabulous city to go shopping!

Big Malls Abound for Anything You Need

Lisbon is full of large, interesting malls with hundreds of stores. Colombo, the largest mall in Lisbon, is open until midnight and full of shops, food, movies, and an amusement park. Amoreiras, Lisbon’s first mall, is a great option for visitors looking for a less crowded atmosphere. A smaller but unique mall is Lisbon’s Campo Pequeno, a former bullring converted into an all-service shopping center.

Lisbon is also home to Europe’s largest store, El Corte Ingles. It’s nine stories high and has food courts, gift shops, and other specialty shops.

For cheaper shopping head to Centro Vasco de Gama, at the Oriente train station. The shopping center is 30 minutes from Lisbon, with prices around 30 percent lower, and it has many sales. For deep discounts, go to Freeport Outlet and Campera, which are outlet malls on the outskirts of town.

Don’t Skip the Little Boutiques

Lisbon is full of small, hidden gem independent shops you don’t want to miss. Many such boutiques are in The Baixa Quarter, Barrio Alto, Avenida de Roma, Alvalade and Campo de Ourique, and the tourist area Castelo de San Jorge. Go to Avenida da Liberdade for small designer stores.

Ponto Prada is a great small store with inexpensive, authentic leather accessories. Expect wallets to start at 10 Euros, and women’s purses at 18 euros.

Delicious Markets

Lisbon is full of great markets. Anthony Boudin even featured the most famous, Mercado Alvalade Norte, on his TV show. This large market sells food of all kinds, and clothing and goods. Mercado da Figueira is a small, hidden gem in the center of town with gourmet food at inexpensive prices.

On Tuesdays and Fridays, go to Feira da Ladra Market, Lisbon’s most famous flea market. It has a huge assortment of second-hand goods.
