Verona Shopping
The fair city of Verona lies in the northern part of Italy. Home of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of the best known Italian cities.
The Pedestrian Only Street
The major shopping area of Verona is the Via Mazzini. Via Mazzini stretches for a mile across the center of town and attracts huge crowds. Most of the stores here are high end stores selling luxury goods. If you’re looking for a special dress, this is the place to go for it. You’ll see dozens of shops with designer items from some of the most famous names in Italian fashion. Other stores also sell clothing items including shoes, belts, and well crafted leather goods. Even if you’re not in the mood or budget to buy, just window shopping at Gucci, Cartier and Fendi can be of fun.
Other Shopping Areas
In addition to Via Mazzini, other shopping areas can also be found in Verona. Those with smaller budgets may want to head to the Piazza Erbe. This Piazza offers many other goods at lower prices. The market stalls here also offer the opportunity to enjoy classic Italian cooking, such as roasted suckling pig. Fresh herbs, homemade bread, and fragrant cooking oils are available for those who want to make a quick lunch of their own.
Other parts of Verona have small markets. The area outside of the Roman theater often has several people selling locally made items that may include items such as clothing, textiles, candles, and sweet treats. If you like antiques, head for the Piazza San Zeno, especially if you’re here during the autumn months. On Sundays, you’ll find an antique market with stalls selling local items, and from all across Italy. Don’t be afraid to bargain, as it is expected. For lower priced clothing, you can head to the Oviesse on the Via Roma. This is where locals shop when they want to buy good clothing at a good price.
