Antalya Shopping
Antalya is one of the most populated cities in Turkey, and a major tourist attraction. Given the number of people who pass through on an annual basis, it should be no surprise that there are many shops and stores to satisfy visitors’ shopping needs.
Deepo Outlet
This massive shopping outlet has something for almost everyone. Inside, it contains more than 80 national and international factory shops. This creates a shopping experience that can fill up the entire day. Fortunately, when you get hungry, there are 15 different restaurants and cafes offering Turkish and world cuisine flavors. One delicious item that’s offered is tombak, which is made of caramel, milk, and sugar. Another treat that’s offered is ashure, which is made of dried fruit. Finally, kazandibi is a traditional dish made of chicken breast. It has the consistency of pudding and is mixed with milk and sugar. Once mealtime is over, parents can take a break from shopping and give their children a chance to play at the indoor play-ground and entertainment area.
Carpets and Kilms
Anatolian carpet-weaving is a very special type of handcraft with roots that are deeply embedded in the past. This type of carpet consists of threads stretched lengthwise on the loom to form what is known as the warp. Threads are then threaded through these from side to side to form a weft that will tighten the weave and form the basis of the knots. These eventually form various decorative motifs found from throughout Turkish history.
There are many motifs to choose from. Birds on the tree of life symbolize life and soul. The dragon is who guards the tree, and these two motifs stand for continuity of the soul and immortality. The star is used to indicate the eternity of the tree of life. A chest symbolizes the trousseau chest and marriage. Stars stand for happiness and eternity. The bird motif on the rug is used to protect the expectation of happiness against the evil eye. When shopping, these types of carpets can still be found is in the country town of Dosemealti, which is not far from Antalya.
Markets
Antalya is a leading agriculture center due to its suitable ecology. The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality’s covered wholesale food market complex meet more than half of the food demands of the country. There are 759 business sites at the Antalya Wholesale Food Market, including brokerage offices, depots, lever scale facilities, bank branches, a sports facility, a police station, a taxi stop, and a gas station.
