Oslo is the capital of Norway and the main entry point to the country. Keep in mind that it is also a land of ice so make sure you watch your step.

Falling Ice

Oslo gets a lot of cold and wet weather, which means ice is everywhere you go so watch your step.If the weather is warming up, look up to make sure you’re not underneath any icicles that could fall.

Handicapped Access

If you are visiting Oslo, be careful if you have mobility issues. While Norway is a progressive country, many parts of the city are not always handicapped accessible. Call in advance and find out if they can accommodate your specific needs.

Fly Into the Right Airport

Be careful when booking a flight into the airport. Oslo has three airports within a two hour radius of the city. The major airport is the Oslo International Airport Gardermoen with international connections and the one closest to the city. Sandefjord Airport is two hours to the southwest of the city. You probably don’t want this one unless you’re headed out in the countryside. Moss Airport Rygge is the newest airport and is located about an hour away and mainly used for local trips. Just be sure to double check the airport, before you book.

Booking a Hotel

Book as early as possible as hotel rooms tend to fill up early. Many hotels close down during Christmas and then reopen again in early January.
