Tips on Torremolinos Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Torremolinos Warnings and Dangers

The largest resort area along the shores of the Costa del Sol, Torremolinos is mostly about the sand and the sea and little else. Keep in mind that it is busy during the high season and very rainy in winter.

This is a very busy place that brings in crowds both from much of Spain and many international destinations. It’s also a place where you need to be especially careful at night.

Huge Crowds

If you’re here during the summer, be aware that many others have the same idea. The beaches in the town get extremely crowded. Get there as early as you can to help reserve a space for your blanket and umbrella. Keep in mind this a popular destination for locals so it’s even more crowded on the weekends.

The Climate

While this is a year-round destination, the weather can get cold and rainy during the winter months. If you are here during that time, bring a jacket and an umbrella. Wind are also heavy, especially when you’re on the beach. Check the climate reports in advance before you go as storms from the coast of Africa frequently travel here, drenching the region heavily.

The Beaches at Night

After the crowds leave, the clean-up crew arrives. If you’re expecting a romantic stroll, keep in mind it may be interrupted by the sound of a dump truck. Look out for cleaning crews and expect a lot of noise at night. If possible, stay off the beaches late at night. The beaches are not well lit. This is also when muggers and robbers may show up. Don’t be a victim of dangerous crime and stay safe.

High Prices

Because it is such as popular destination, it is best to book it at least a month in advance to get a good deal. A last minute trip can be difficult to arrange and very expensive. Accommodations can also be costly. To help save money, consider booking a hotel that is relatively away from the beach rather than right on top of it. You’ll still get marvelous views and beach access but at less cost. Many tour groups offer a discount on hotels so consider booking your trip here that way.
