Siem Reap Shopping
Between sight-seeing at ornate temples, you’ll find plenty of activities to keep you busy in Siem Reap, like shopping. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your experience.
Markets and Crafts
If you are shopping for souvenirs then you’ll find plenty in the shops all along Pub Street: T shirts, silk scarves, carved figures, magnets, and more. You’ll find handmade items as well as cheaply made imported souvenirs. The shops are all along the street, but if you want a better experience, go to the night market. The night market has a wide array of goods plus plenty of street food stalls. Even if you don’t buy anything, it’s great just to walk around, people watch, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Siem Reap Artisans
This shop offers handmade local goods: you won’t find cheap tourist souvenirs made in China. There is a good selection and this is the place to go if you want to bring back something special.
As far as malls, you’ll find the Lucky Shopping Center is the largest in the area. You can find clothing, accessories, electronics and other goods there.
Currency and Haggling
You can pay in the local currency or U.S. dollars though the latter is preferred. Haggling is a must. The vendors can be very aggressive and drive a hard bargain, but if you are friendly and reasonable you can get things at a good price.
