What to See

If you want to cool off, start with a refreshing swim in the Emerald Pool, a spring-fed natural pond surrounded by trees. To find it, head up the walkway for a path into the jungle. You can also get a boat to Railay Beach,  secluded cove, for a special outing. To see the other parts of the area, take the Four Island Tour. This will bring you to several islands including Chicken Island, Tup, Mawr, and Poda island with excellent offshore reefs ideal for snorkeling.

What to Pack

Mosquitos are everywhere so pack repellant and a pair of long pants. On the beach, sandals and flip flop are good for the hot sand. Pack lightly as many essentials are cheaper here.

Getting There and Around

Several major bus lines come from other places. There’s also an airport with flights to Bangkok. Many people choose to arrive by boat from other places in Thailand. Boats will bring you directly to Krabi from a few islands in the area.

Shopping

Head for the Krabi market for a taste of Thai food like Tom Yom soup and spices like galangal and ginger. For a quick morning grocery and drink run, head for the Krabi Town morning market. Look for fruit like durians, pineapples, lichis, sweet tamarinds, mangoes, and bananas.
