Vancouver Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Vancouver Things to Do

The largest and most visited city in British Columbia, Vancouver boasts nearly endless options for things to do. Here are the must-see Vancouver attractions for visitors.

Stanley Park

With roughly 1,000 acres of forest, gardens, and hiking trails, Stanley Park is one of the top attractions in Vancouver. You can take a horse-drawn carriage tour, visit an aquarium, and dine at numerous restaurants. Biking and walking trails lead directly into Stanley Park, and there’s great public transportation options as well.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Another must-see Vancouver tourist draw is the Capilano Suspension Bridge, one of the earliest attractions built in Vancouver. The suspension bridge and the Treetops Adventure, an Ewok-village-style series of bridges high above the ground, are jaw-dropping experiences. And for really amazing experience, head to the  Cliffwalk, a glass walkway that hangs out 700 feet and reaches heights of 300 feet above the ground. It follows the canyon wall and offers unparalleled views.

Granville Island

Foodies shouldn’t miss Granville Island (which, incidentally, is not actually an island; it’s a peninsula).  The restaurants, gourmet food shops, and public market are all impressive. The public market is located just under the Granville Street Bridge along the south side. It can be quite busy with tourists, so if you’re not one for crowds, try exploring the “island” instead. You’ll find some great shops and restaurants as well as other sights, including a totem pole crafting shop, colorful buildings, and a park. You can take the water taxi to the peninsula, a trolley, or drive over the bridge to get there.

Gastown

Looking for trendy historical? Check out Gastown, which owes its name to John Deighton (who was known as Gassy Jack). There’s also a cool steam-powered clock on the corner of Water and Cambie street. You’ll love the cobblestone streets and historic buildings as well as the trendy shops, restaurants, and clubs.
