Consider But Investigate Elephant Trekking
Riding and playing with elephants is a truly amazing experience. However, many elephants in the area are neglected. The trick is to do your research ahead of time and find service providers who care for their elephants and give them a good life. By putting in just a little bit of research, you can find out who is a quality service provider. This will help avoid giving money to companies that treat their elephants poorly.
Emerald Pool
You’ll need to either book a private tour to get here or rent a motorbike. Either way the beautiful water here makes it seem like you are in a hidden away paradise (you kind of are, actually). If you want to go the easy way there are plenty of tours that go here. Talk to your hotel’s front desk and they can connect you with a tour group. However, if you’re up for it the best way is to rent a motorbike. This way you can avoid going with a large tour and possibly have more of the area to yourself. Going early will give you a better shot and then you can really watch the sun come up.
Railay Beach
If you’re headed to Krabi you’re likely headed to Railay Beach at some point. This is the beach you saw in the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo DeCaprio. While he is supposedly in another part of the country, the scene was shot here. This is another spot that can fill up quickly, so be prepared for some crowds. You’ll also likely need to be part of a boat tour, unless you are up for paying a boat and captain to take you out. Thankfully you can do this for not a lot of money, if you’re feeling like it.
Snorkeling
There are plenty of destinations around town where you can go snorkeling. It is best to go with a group for this so you know what areas are safe. Wherever you go though, make sure to look at the bottom of the sea underneath you before trying to put your foot down. Some areas do have sea urchins, which are covered in sharp spikes. It is very easy to step on one and seriously injure your foot. It will also draw blood which will draw other sea animals that you may not want around when swimming. So just be careful when snorkeling and look around before you jump in.
Night Market
Looking for delicious food on the cheap? The night market is your place to be. With hundreds of choices you’ll never go home hungry from this delicious hot spot.
