Rosarito Warnings and Dangers
Just half an hour below Tijuana, is the coastal town of Rosarito. It is a nice coastal town without the reputation of Tijuana and other border towns. It is just far enough across the border to get into what may be the “real” Mexico, and it seems to still be away from the rough aspects of some of the border areas. Still, like anywhere, there are reasons to keep aware of your surroundings. Here are Tips on Rosarito Warnings or Dangers.

Be a nice visitor
For the most part, Mexico is a very nice place to visit. If you obey the law, are not rude, and generally act in a decent manner, you will not have trouble. For this reason, pick your traveling companions carefully. Dont go out with people who want to party all night and get very drunk, which can lead to trouble no matter where you are.
Riding horses
Riding horses along the beach looks great on TV, and it is if you are an experienced rider. You do ride at your own risk however, and the people running the rides may not know how experienced you are. They may not assign a horse to you that fits your capabilities as a rider, so if you are a novice, or have never ridden, be careful about taking a horseback ride on the beach.
Passports
Rules on border crossings can get complicated. If you are a Canadian, you may enter the United States or Mexico without a passport. However, if you are a Canadian, and are in Mexico, you cannot cross the southern border into the U.S. from Mexico without a passport. Having the passport makes things simpler all the way around. You may also have copies of your passport so you can give someone a copy and never lose sight of your original.
Real dangers
Even though Rosarito is a fairly laid back place, it is good to not go it alone. Women have reported being raped. Someone can emerge out of shadows and grab a person before they know what is happening and bad things can happen. Just always travel with a companion or a small group, especially for women in Mexico. Also watch your possessions, as there are always petty criminals around who will steal something if you leave it unprotected. You are not likely to get robbed a gunpoint here, but there are people ready to steal what they can if it is left unprotected. You can also get in real trouble here for drunk driving, so do not drive at all if you have had a few drinks. There is also a prohibition against drinking in public, which is selectively enforced. It is usually just a small fine if someone decides to enforce it, but it is still an inconvenience.
