Moorea Warnings And Dangers
Moorea is truly a paradise on Earth, with sparkling blue water, lush jungles and sandy beaches. It’s a dream destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. As far as safety goes, Moorea is a beautiful, peaceful island with very little crime. There are things to be aware of, though.
Weather And Wildlife
As with many tropical destinations, weather can be unpredictable, and the heat and sun can do a number on you. Be mindful of storm warnings and always keep yourself hydrated and slathered with sunscreen.
The abundant sea life is one of the huge draws of the island. Be safe at all times. Don’t disturb wildlife. Be respectful and follow the suggestions and rules — they are there for your safety. Animals (Including sea turtles) bite. They sting and they do other unpredictable things. Don’t let your guard down.
In town, dogs do roam the streets. During the day it’s not really an issue, but at night if you’re walking alone, you could risk an attack. While this isn’t something that always happens, it could. Avoid walking around alone at night for this reason.
Moorea Is Expensive
This is something that often takes people by surprise. The island is very expensive. Do your research ahead of time so you aren’t surprised by your food and activity bills.
Crime In Moorea
Overall, this is a very safe destination. It is a good idea to exercise caution. Petty theft does happen. While violent crime is very low, car break-ins happen. Don’t leave belongings laying around on the beach. Take care what you leave in your hotel room. When traveling, it’s a good idea to leave non-replaceable items at home. In other words, fancy jewelry or heirlooms that you can’t replace are not recommended to bring on vacation.
