Gibraltar nightlife is pretty active and there’s always something to do. The pubs are very British and have a Spanish touch which makes for a great atmosphere in the evening.

Out on the Town

There are many lively pubs located along both the main street in town and on the many side streets. The quieter places are near the harbor and it’s very pleasant to kick back and relax there in the evening. Most pubs are free to get in, but some do charge entry in the evening when they convert to dancing. There is also a casino in town. Gibraltar is small so most places are close in proximity making it easier to bar hop. You’ll find many of the people in the bars speak English.

Casemates Square

On the weekends, Casemates Square is the area most recommended by tourists as a “must do”. There are numerous restaurants here where you can get a nice meal, enjoy it at your leisure and then wait for the nightclub activity to start. There are also many bars in this area of Gibraltar. Live music, karaoke and dancing (some places they dance on the table tops!), are popular in Casemates Square. The music is loud and the clubs/bars stay open until about 3 or 4 a.m., some are even still going as the sun comes up.

What to Wear

Dress is mostly casual and there are no set dress codes for most pubs, although there are a few that do request specific attire; if so, this will be posted on the door of the club.

Fun fact: The Star Bar claims the title as the oldest bar in Gibraltar, dating back several hundred years.
