Warnings and Dangers in Tokyo: Night Out
Drugged Drinks
Some places put more than alcohol in your drinks. This is especially true when you are visiting the bars in the Roppongi area of metropolitan Tokyo. One particular bar that is gaining notoriety for putting drugs in people’s drink is the First Bar in the Roi Building in Roppongi. You should also be extra careful when visiting Bar 360 in the Yamada Building.
The incidences of people waking up in alleys and other secluded areas without their wallets, money, jewelry, and other things has gotten so bad that the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo has issued a warning to travelers to be extra careful when visiting the area. Do not drink anything unless you see it get poured with your own eyes and do not let anyone you don’t know go get you a drink for you even if you think you are getting along with them and they are being nice.
Stay on the Beaten Path
You want to stay in locations where there are plenty of people. Wandering into back alleys and streets exposes you to gang members and others who may want to beat you up and rob you. Always stay in well-lit and crowded areas when traveling in the Tokyo area.
