Head Down to the Beach

The beach of Puerto Morelos is unlike any other beach you may have been to if you are from the United States. It is a natural beach that is covered with white, powder-like sand. It’s maintained only a few times a week so there may be bits of paper and seaweed lying around. The seaweed is useful to the Puerto Morelos ecosystem. Birds feed on the tiny insects that like the seaweed. The only worry is the wind. When the wind blows, the powdery sand can spray in your face.

La Petita in Puerto Morelos

The restaurant, La Petita, is located in the square north of the pier. It has a wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. They often invite a local band to play live music. You can enjoy a delicious meal and live music during your stay.

The Crococun Crocodile Park

Be bold and pet a boa constrictor or a baby crocodile at the Crococun Crocodile Park. This zoo used to be a crocodile farm where crocs were raised and sold. Now the park has a wide variety of animals and reptiles for visitors to view and some you can hold.

View One of the Great Pyramids

A short drive from Puerto Morelos is the elusive Mayan ruins, Chichén Itzá. Along with other archeological finds in Chichén Itzá is the Kukulkan Pyramid. It is 78 feet high. In 2007, this pyramid became one of the 7 wonders of the world.
