Surfing

Siargao is mostly known for its superb surfing. From the fast break Cloud 9 to the more mellow longboard wave at Daku Island, this is the perfect place for experienced and beginners alike. Every year, Billabong hosts the Siargao International surf competition here, which usually starts off in the middle of September and is not to be missed by any surfing fan. The best time to come surfing in Siargao Island is between September-December, but during the rainy season of January-March, the many tropical storms off the coast deliver huge swells so even then the waves are good.

Sohoton Tours

Tiktikan Lake is part of another Sohoton Tour together with Crystal Cave, and there are differing fees for entrance if you are boating. You can take the boat to the other side and be guided on foot inland. The lake is huge and if you are traveling to General Luna, it is best to leave early in order to avoid the strong waves.

To visit the cave, take the pumpboat during high tide to reach the shore where there is a path to the cave. It is best to wear good hiking shoes because the path can be treacherous in some spots. Also bring along a good flashlight in order to see once you are inside the cave, and the guide will not always have enough flashlights for everyone on the tour. The 2 hour ride on the pumpboat from General Luna is definitely worth the effort to reach this natural wonder.

There are also spots above the cove to jump into the deep water, which adventure lovers will enjoy. There are also stingless jellyfishes that you will be able swim with, and they will come close to you while you are swimming. It is advisable to visit during low tide for the pumpboat to be able to enter the cove. At the same time, you can visit the Bucas Grande islets, Tiktikan Lake, and Crystal Cave. They are all beautiful, but be careful about the weather because you will cross deep waters.
