Banaue Transportation
If you’re visiting Banaue for the Batad and Bangaan Rice Terraces or you just want to see the sites, you need transportation. Follow these Banaue transportation tips.
Tricycle
Tricycles are a fun and inexpensive way to travel around Banaue. A tricycle is a three-wheeled, pedaled motorcycle used to travel shorter distances. A traveler hires a tricycle much like one would hire a taxi, and just like a taxi, you will want to make sure you establish a price before you agree to a ride. Some roads around Banaue are unpaved and may be muddy or rutted, but tricycles rarely get stuck and travel relatively easily over rough terrain. If you are going a long distance or you have more than three people, however, a tricycle may not be your best choice.
Jeepney
A jeepney is an alternative to a tricycle as it can transport you longer distances and over rougher terrain than the less rugged bike. Jeepneys are converted army jeeps and drivers can be found at the bus terminal and other public places. Jeepneys can be a bit pricey but if you have a large group it may be worth it. You will also want to make sure you know the jeepney’s schedule, as they don’t travel freely like a taxi would. If you’re brave, consider sitting on top of the jeepney, in the open air, to take full advantage of the sights.
Busses
The Autobus is a popular mode of transportation around Banaue. An air-conditioned Autobus leaves Manila daily at 10:00 pm and arrives in Banaue at 7:00 am the next day. The same bus leaves Banaue at 5:30 pm and arrives in Manila around 2:30 am the next day. Both of these routes have brief stops for the bus to re-fuel and for passengers to eat and use the restroom. The Florida Bus also provides travel options with the added bonus of an in-bus bathroom.
