Riyadh Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Riyadh Shopping

Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has many malls and souks (speciality stores) where tourists can shop for all kinds of products. Prayer observance determines when stores and restaurants are ready to serve customers.

For Women

Ladies’ Kingdom occupies one-level of the Al Mamlakat Mall. Exclusively for women, this shopping area is where they can buy designer and non-designer brands. In addition to shops, this speciality mall has cafes and restaurants, beauty salons and stores where customers can buy recordings, chocolate and lingerie. A level for women to shop is also located in the Kingdom Tower skyscraper. Though there are no fitting rooms at this mall, women have three days to exchange a product.

For Everyone

Luxury brands for men and women are available at other levels of the Al Mamlaka Mall. For people, on a budget there is Surghah, a souk that sells clothes, jewelry, toiletries, shoes, carpets, abayas, food and drink.

Foods

With multiple stores, Tamimi sells meat, vegetables and groceries. In addition, it sells Filipino and Indonesian foods. Al Batha is a souk that sells spices, coffee pots, woven goods and daggers.

Gold

Thumeiri Gold souk sells items in white gold, yellow gold and silver. In addition, the shop sells carpets, thobe, undergarments and incense and spices.

Electronics

Extra sells laptops, TVs, DVD players, mobile phones, fax machines and home appliances at its two locations. Electro on King Abdullah Road also sells electronics. Electronic items are also sold at stores in the Olaya district. Confirm the warranty by getting the manufacturer’s letter that guarantees support.

Closures for Prayer

Boutique shops will ask customers to leave at prayer time and come back later. People in restaurants can continue to dine, but the restaurant will dim its lights and not admit new diners until prayers are finished.
