Singapore – What to Pack – Clothing and Supplies Tips

Singapore – What To Pack

Know what to bring on your trip to Singapore before you go. Here are some tips.

Luggage

No matter what you have planned for your Singaporean adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

Clothing

Singapore is a tropical country, and light clothing should be comfortable enough. When going to hot and humid Singapore, it’s best to bring extra light colored t-shirts and athletic or jogging shorts rather than dark colored shirts or jeans, since dark colored shirts tend to absorb heat. You won’t need any winter clothes any time of the year here, but you should bring more changes of clothing than you think you’ll need. The heat and humidity cause many people to sweat more than usual, especially if you’re not used to the weather.

If you plan to go into any shopping centers for any length of time, you may want a light sweater or jacket. The air conditioning in Singapore’s shopping centers is quite strong.

Clothes to Pack

Shoes

Bring a comfortable, lightweight pair of walking shoes for sightseeing. Otherwise, sandals or flip flops will be fine.

Adaptors

Singapore uses a 220V/50Hz 3-pin socket platform. It will be helpful to bring a universal adaptor to make it easy for you to recharge your batteries.

In any case, all hotels have a 110-220V 2-pin shaver socket.

Electronics to Pack

Miscellaneous

You may want to carry an umbrella for unexpected showers.

Keep a small hand towel in the bag that you will carry around with you. Between the constant rain during some days and the very warm temperatures you will find having something to wipe down with comes in handy.

Note: There are taxes for bringing tobacco and alcohol into Singapore. You have to declare what you bring in and pay tax accordingly. If you try to hide it to avoid the tax and get caught, there is a hefty fine.
