Newcastle upon Tyne Shopping
Are you looking to do some shopping as a tourist in Newcastle Upon Tyne? If this is the case, you will be pleased with the many options that are available to you.
Metrocentre
Those who love larger shopping malls will enjoy shopping at Metrocentre. It is considered one of the largest leisure and shopping complexes in all of Europe. It contains the largest indoor theme park in Europe, more than 350 shops, as well as numerous bars and restaurants, multi-screen cinema theatre, and bowling alley.
Grainger Market
The market, located in the centre of town, has been refurbished recently. It has been around since the 19th century and it is open every day besides Sundays. Grainger Market has more of a traditional appeal to it.
You can purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as meat and a variety of Chinese foodstuff. Also, you will be glad to learn that there are stalls which sell sewing materials and fabrics, the Northern Optical Company, and the Cheap Tab Shop (for low priced cigarettes), among many other goods.
Royal Quays Outlet Centre
When you are waiting to board the ferry or getting off of the ferry, it will be of great benefit to you to visit this outlet centre. It features many amazing outlet shops, including but not limited to Calvin Klein and Nike.
Northumberland Street
This is a great place to shop if you are someone who is not fond of shopping malls. There are various chain stores, including Next and H & M. One of the largest department stores in Newcastle, Fenwick’s, also is located there. It is excellent for families to visit, as there is a window display with moving figures at Fenwick’s.
Central Arcade
This shopping arcade has been fashioned in an Edwardian theme. It provides a nice contrast to the more modern shopping districts and centres in the area. Some of the more well-known shops there include Windows, which is a music store, Lush with bath-time supplies including natural soaps, and the shoe chain shop Office. It is a gorgeous relic of the Victorian style.
Eldon Square Shopping Centre
This is in the middle of the city, and features shops that are both indoors and outdoors. It has about 150 shops, including TK Maxx, Fenwicks, and Primark. It has a great deal of character and it is ideal for walking around.
