Vietnam Warnings and Dangers
Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia that sits along the South China Sea. The country has become increasingly more integrated with the wider world, though you should keep certain dangers in mind if you visit the region.
Beware of Traffic
Regardless of what city you visit in Vietnam, traffic seems to be a common complaint among tourists. From small villages like Sapa to Ho Chi Minh city itself, the traffic in the country is thick. It can also be dangerous to drive in, particularly in Ho Chi Minh city. There are few traffic lights in the area, and the parade of bikers that speed through the streets can create a hazard for anyone unfamiliar with driving in those conditions.
Take Care of Your Money
There are small and large problems to watch out for with regard for money. The 10,000 and 100,000 notes are very similar in appearance, and one slip up could end up with you handing over much more money than you thought you were.
Outside of these kinds of slip ups, you’ll also want to keep an eye on your wallet and other belongings. Especially when walking in thick crowds, you’ll want to make sure your possessions are secured. It is not unheard of for visitors to suddenly have their bags snatched right off their shoulders.
