The locals of Koh Phaluai and the smaller islands of Koh Tao Pun, Koh Mod Dang, Koh Lak, Koh Tu, and Koh Kluai that encircle it make a living from farming and fishing. Coconuts, rubber and a variety of fruits are also products in the local market and the island is famous for its sun dried mullet and squid. The locals are very friendly, so get to know them or spend some time with them on your visit.

Food Shopping/Activities

There aren’t really any places to shop on the island, there is one shop that has limited basic stock, such as foods, drinks and cleaning products. The products at the shop are very low priced and can often be negotiated.

Some of the local fisherman might be willing to take you out on their boats if you ask them, however, you will need to bring your own equipment with you, and don’t be offended if you get turned down.
