A Sri Lankan night can be a magical experience, but if you want western style nightlife you are probably in the wrong country. In Colombo, there are casinos and clubs, which tend to cater for the more affluent, and small towns may have a local bar, but your best bet may be to party at your hotel bar or visit the local liquor store.

ZaZa Bar

ZaZa Bar is in the Casa Colombo, a nice little trendy hotel. The prices are reasonable, the cocktails are good, there is an extensive wine list – if not the best –
and the staff is friendly. It’s not a big place, but it doesn’t get crowded. The bar has a nice ambiance. It’s a bit dark, but they give you little pen-lights to read the menu by – a nice touch. Unfortunately, it shuts down at midnight. All in all, ZaZa is a stylish bar where you can enjoy an afternoon or evening drink with friends.

Clancey’s Pub

Clancey’s is a great pub to hang out at, conveniently located in the heart of Colombo, with live music 7 days a week from 8 pm until 2 am. The music ranges from DJ’s to live bands playing stuff from the 60’s through to today. You can also get dinner and snacks with your drinks. If you’re looking for nightlife in Sri Lanka, this pub is a must-see.

Casinos

The casinos are well run and safe, and they have all the popular card games, like poker and blackjack. All three casinos are run by the same company. There is a free shuttle bus from one casino to the other, and the casinos offer free food and drinks.
