Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

The Rosicrucian Museum in San Jose was one of the world’s first Egyptian museums in the world. It is well over 100 years old and was founded by the Rosicrucian Order, which is a society similar to the Free Masons. The entire park is well-built and resembles an Egyptian temple complex. The museum is a must-see and offers a student discount. It is easy to reach with public transportation as well.

Japantown

Japantown San Jose has been here since about 1890, and it plays an important part in San Jose area’s history. Japanese Americans were highly involved in agriculture and commerce in the city’s earlier years. Today, the area is still a hub of activity just a few blocks from downtown. There are many restaurants and festivals here to enjoy.

Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery House is the most famous attraction in San Jose. It was built in 1884 by a wealthy widow, Sarah Winchester. She continued to build onto her mansion in the hopes of thwarting spirits of those killed by the Winchester rifle. Today, a Victorian home with 160 rooms, 47 fireplaces, 13 bathrooms, and 10,000 windows still stands. Tours of the eerie home are still available.
