Chagrin Falls
If you want to see more than the big attractions around Cleveland, explore Chagrin Falls, a quaint town with curio shops and stately mansions. Chagrin Falls, known to locals as “High Falls,” provided an ideal water source to 19th century settlers.
Hocking Hills State Park
Explore remaining evidence of the ancient Adena Culture, who inhabited the caves and other areas in Hocking Hills State Park in Logan. Several Indian tribes, including Shawnee, Delaware and Wyandotte inhabited the area.
Discover Black Hand Sandstone that formed 350 million years ago, Old Man’s Cave, Cantwell Cliffs and remnants of the influence of ancient glaciers.
Flint Ridge
The Flint Ridge Ancient Quarries and Nature Preserve in Glenford take visitors back to when Native Americans lived in the area. They used the flint to make tools, weapons, ceremonial items and used it for trading. Examples of flint from the area have been found across the U.S.
Spanning through portions of Licking and Mahoning Counties, the rainbow-colored flint offers visitors to see flint in its naturally occurring state. Discover hundreds of work shops and quarry pits that contribute to Flint Ridge being known as the “Great Indian Quarry of Ohio.”
Parks Off the Beaten Path
View one of Ohio’s covered bridges at the Cleveland Metropark or marvel at the Bedford Reservation, a part of the “Emerald Necklace” of Cleveland. Explore Tinkers Creek Gorge and enjoy hiking trails and picnic areas, located adjacent to Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Offering something for everyone, you can find Cuyahoga Valley National Park just east of I-77. Designated an Ohio Scenic Byway, the park features skiing in winter, an environmental learning center, historical sites, an art center and the opportunity to explore rural green space.
Amish Country
Ohio has the largest Amish population in the country.
You can discover the simple life, quality furnishings and scrumptious food prepared by the Amish along Route 30 in Wooster and Route 36, a designated Scenic Route winding through “Amish Country.” Discover the workings of an Amish farm, where the Amish still reject many modern conveniences.
