Getting to Siracusa

It’s possible to travel to Siracusa via several methods, including plane, boat, train, and bus.

By plane, fly into Catiana, which serves several cities in Italy and around Europe. Once you arrive in Catiana, you’ll get to Siracusa via train, bus, or car rental. Trains leave every two to three hours, and the trip takes just over an hour.

You can also take the train into Siracusa via other Italian cities such as Ragusa or Taormina. Siracusa has a nice, modernized train station which makes train travel easy.

Another alternative is to come to Siracusa by boat. The boat takes 1.5 hours from Malta or 22 hours from Genova. Most ferries arrive in Pozzallo. From Pozzallo, you’ll take a three-hour bus ride to Siracusa.

Getting Around in Siracusa

Bus tickets, which you can buy in Piazza Pancali, will take you everywhere in Siracusa, including Archeologic Park and the beach.

You can rent a car, bicycle, scooter, or motorcycle at Hollywood Rent. Park your car in the covered car park in Ortigia or in parking areas in old town. Pay attention to signs and pay the correct price.

If you take a taxi, negotiate a fixed price before the ride starts.

The Provincia Regionale di Siracusa offers a tourist transport service for groups of four or more from 6 a.m..- 22:00 p.m.. The service goes to several areas in Siracusa.
