Best Time to Go to Aruba
Nearly every day is like the last in Aruba: clear and sunny with cooling trade winds. The average temperature year-round is in the mid-80’s Fahrenheit, with July through September only slightly warmer than December and January. The greatest likelihood of rain is from October through January. Aruba lies on the southern edge of the hurricane zone, so if you fly or sail through the Caribbean to reach Aruba during hurricane season, your travel may be disrupted, especially from mid-August through mid-October. Carnival, celebrated throughout January and February, is festive, but also brings the crowds, especially to late February’s Grand Carnival Parade.
Aruba on a Budget
The U.S. dollar has held its own against the Aruban guilder/florin (AWG) since 1986, and dollars are widely accepted in Aruba. Summer finds the best bargains in Aruba. Guesthouses and villas provide an opportunity to save money by cooking your own meals and cleaning up after yourself. You can also pitch a tent in Arikok National Park without busting the budget. Another alternative to swank accommodations is “green” hotels, with fewer luxuries and less environmental impact.
