Serenity & Perfection Await in Sebastopol, CA

To most, their 30th birthday is something which you’d like to just let pass by without recognition. I however, had the pleasure of spending my 30th birthday in Sebastopol, California at the Avalon Luxury Bed & Breakfast back in September 2006, and I have not stopped talking about it since! From the very moment my boyfriend selected the Avalon for our destination, the innkeeper, Hilary was extremely thorough in helping to ensure that our trip (which was a surprise for the birthday girl) would be flawless.

For any vacation, there are three components which make or break your stay; Location, Accommodations and Hosts. The Avalon had it all. Sebastopol is a wonderful little town tucked away in Sonoma County, CA amongst wonderful wineries with endless wine for everyone’s tastes. The Russian River Valley is well worth the trip to satisfy your every wine desire. The redwoods nearby provide a day of hiking in inviting peaceful calm surroundings and Route 1 provides a day of wonderful afternoon driving along the coast. The Avalon was nicely tucked away just a 5 minute drive from center of town, allowing for convenience, seclusion and serenity. Our stay in the Magician’s Suite was just that – magical. It provided a home-away-from-home and a cozy bed that unfortunately, did not fit in my suitcase to bring back home with me. What is a B&B without breakfast? Hilary’s frittatas, fresh crepes and homemade preserves gave us all the motivation we needed to roll out of bed early in the morning. Lastly, the hosts themselves, were always available and willing to help in planning out our days. We would have missed out on so much that there was to offer, had it not been for the kindness, generosity and intelligence of the hosts themselves. They made our trip complete.

Our stay at The Avalon Luxury Inn set the standard of excellence for all B&B’s at which we will stay from now on. The rest are going to have to compete with wonderful memories, excellent surroundings, inviting hosts, phenomenal food and perfect accommodations. Perhaps, we’ll just have to make our way back for another stay…
