Slovenia is at least two destinations in one, with snowfall in the mountains and warmth and sunshine along the Adriatic Sea. Summer is the most popular time along the Adriatic coast, while winter is big in the ski areas. In general, May through October is the best time to visit, but December through March is the best time for skiing.

January through February also experiences a high season in ski areas.

Weather Information

Most of Slovenia has a continental climate consisting of cold winters with plenty of snow and warm summers with plenty of sunshine. The average temperatures are 28 degrees in January and 70 degrees in July. However, temperatures along the Adriatic coast are relatively mild in the winter, hitting the upper 50s.

Slovenia doesn't see major crowds, except sometimes over the weekends during the summer months.

When to Save

The best time to go to save money depends on the purpose for the visit. In general, prices in summer resort areas are the highest in July and August. In winter resort areas, prices are higher January through March.
