Roam’s The Continental Backpack Review

Can’t find a travel backpack that fits what you need? Roam’s new line of backpacks is customizable, so you can design a pack that’s perfectly suited to you. The backpacks come in three base styles: a small, medium, and large. We tested out the largest backpack in the line, The Continental

What is Roam’s The Continental Backpack ?

Roam is a customizable luggage brand that was started by two former TUMI employees. The Continental is one of the company’s first backpacks. The Continental is the largest in the collection, with a 26 liter capacity that can hold enough for a short trip away.

What Makes the Continental Backpack Different?

The Continental Backpack is totally customizable. There are four colors to choose from (green, red, black, and grey). The front, back, and side panels can all be made in different colors, as can the handle and straps.

How Does the Continental Backpack Measure Up?

Features: 10/10

The Continental Backpack is packed with features you won’t find in any other backpack. An exterior water bottle side pocket keeps your water bottle separated in case of leaks, but still hides it away for a sleek look. A laptop pocket protects your tech (as does the water-repellent fabric), and multiple pockets keep everything organized. The extra-log key fob lets you use your keys without taking off your backpack.

If you use the backpack as your personal item on a plane, there’s even a trolley sleeve so you can carry it on your suitcase.

Comfort: 10/10

The backpack straps are thoroughly padded with a high-density foam that helps keep pressure off of your shoulders, no matter how heavy you pack it. The grab handles are lined with a soft microfiber fabric that’s nice to carry.

Style: 10/10

Make this backpack truly your own with the customizable color options. You can choose to make it all one color, stand out from the crowd with a pop of color on the handles, or go all out and make every section a different color. The backpack itself has a sleek design that’s unlike most backpacks (which look like they belong on the hiking trail) that can be taken from the office to dinner.

Cost: 7/10

At $350, The Continental is expensive for a backpack of this size. However, the features are worth the splurge, and if you’re not happy with it, Roam allows returns (even on customized items) for up to 100 days after purchase. There’s also a limited lifetime warranty on this durable bag.
